The QHtenna "Turnstyle" antenna system offers simple, inexpensive, horizontal omni-directional antennas for the Ham frequencies in the VHF/UHF range of 50 MHz, 144 MHz, 222 MHz and 432 MHz, plus 72 MHz (RC) and 122 MHz (aircraft). Our Turnstyle antenna boasts 3.2 dbi omni gain.
These antennas are designed to be “added on” to each other, as 1 antenna can be used alone, or all 5 models can be stacked or arranged together with simple 1 inch PVC pipe and elbows/tees-crosses.
QHtenna Turnstyle antennas are made of 1 inch sched 40 PVC with radiators of 3/16 inch aluminum rod. Feedline suggestions are RG-8x coax with simple Sta-Kon® brand terminals to attach the feedline to the antenna. The feedline may be inserted into the PVC pipe for looks and weather protection.
The complete antenna system can even be painted to a color of your choice, even camouflage.
These antennas make a great rover antenna system, satellite system, or a permanent system for spotting or net control operation. Stacking for added gain and diversity reception gain excel in many ways over a yagi type antenna.
All models are made for easy rod removal and storage. SWR is normally a flat 1:1, and power handling is 400 watts.
We also manufacture these turnstyles for special frequencies upon request, as for aviation and commercial uses where omni horizontal polarization is required. The ease of installation is the key! No expensive mounting kits -- just plain old PVC and associated elbows available from any hardware store.
